Social research into community attitudes

The Wave 5 project is the fifth round of social research into Victorian community attitudes and behaviour to the coastal and marine environments. The surveys help to identify what the community values about these environments and track how public attitudes and behaviours have changed.

These longitudinal surveys assist in formulating strategies for managing the Victorian coast and have previously informed the development of the Victorian Coastal Strategy. This research provides information to the public, commercial and governmental stakeholders on how the coast is used and perceived by Victorians.

The Council expects the results from the Wave 5 survey to be available soon.

Four previous 'waves' of research were conducted in 1996, 2000, 2007 and 2011. Reports from these surveys are available on the VCC website.
